Design Process

Challenges

  • Use brand guidelines to maintain consistency across platforms.
  • Compete with leading trading platforms while offering unique features.
  • Cater to users from beginners to professional brokers with ease of use.
  • Offer VIP features like advanced signals and exclusive content without cluttering the user experience.

My Role – Lead product designer

I led the design for mobile and desktop trading platforms, managing a team of two designers. I focused on a user-centered experience aligned with business goals and collaborated with the product and R&D teams on requirements, discovery, and development. Customer insights guided continuous improvements through feedback from support and sales teams.

Research & Discovery

The research phase focused on understanding the competitive landscape and user needs to create a trading platform that would stand out and cater to different skill levels.

Competitive Analysis

By analyzing other Trading apps such as eToro, Plus500, and IG Markets, I identified strengths like social trading and simplicity for beginners, as well as weaknesses in customization for advanced users. This informed our approach to design a balanced platform that caters to both novice and expert traders.

User Personas

Four personas guided the design: Beginners need an easy-to-use interface and learning tools; Intermediate Users seek advanced features to build strategies; Advanced Users require fast execution and detailed analytics; and Brokers need professional tools to manage large trades. This framework ensured the platform meets specific needs across skill levels.

Design Approch

Balancing Simplicity and Functionality
The interface is designed to be intuitive for beginners yet powerful enough for advanced traders and brokers, preserving core functionality.

Customization for All Levels
Flexible customization lets users tailor the platform to their skill level, from novice to professional.

Competing with Leading Platforms
Inspired by competitor research, the design combines user-friendly elements with advanced tools, positioning it competitively with platforms like eToro and IG Markets.
